Shower & Bathroom Tile Installation in San Diego

Solomon Moss installs shower and bathroom tile across San Diego on four waterproofing layers you can inspect before the first tile goes on: a prepared substrate, a continuous Kerdi membrane, a verified slope to the drain, and the tile itself. As a licensed California general contractor and Kerdi-Schluter Certified installer, we back every waterproofing system with a non-transferable lifetime warranty. One crew handles demo, plumbing, waterproofing, and tile at a fixed price after a free on-site evaluation.

The tile is the part you see. The three layers under it are the part that decides whether the wall behind your shower stays dry for a decade or rots out in three years. That hidden work is exactly what the lowest bidder skips, and it is exactly what we treat as non-negotiable.

Prepared Substrate

Layer one. We take the wet zone down to sound framing, correct any rot or out-of-plane studs, and set a proper tile backer. In 1960s through 1980s tract homes from El Cajon to coastal Oceanside we routinely find greenboard or drywall used as a shower backer, and that all comes out before we build back.

Continuous Kerdi Membrane

Layer two, and the one that defines the whole system. As a Kerdi-Schluter Certified installer we run the sheet membrane across every wet surface: walls, pan, curb, and niche. Seams are bonded with Kerdi-Band set in thinset so the waterproofing is one continuous skin with no gap at a corner or penetration.

Verified Slope to Drain

Layer three. The pre-slope under the pan is built and measured so every drop of water runs to the drain instead of pooling against the membrane. On curbless builds we drop the subfloor and often set a linear drain so the floor slopes cleanly in one direction. We verify slope before we trust it.

Tile, Set Last

Layer four. Only after the substrate, the continuous Kerdi membrane, and the verified slope are in and confirmed does tile go on. Porcelain, ceramic, natural stone, mosaic shower floors, and large-format walls: the tile is a design decision made on top of a waterproofing system that is already sound.

Kerdi-Schluter Certified

We are certified in the Schluter waterproofing system, which means we install it to the manufacturer's specification rather than an approximation of it. That certification is what backs the non-transferable lifetime waterproofing warranty on every wet-area system we build for a San Diego homeowner.

General Contracting In-House

A shower is rarely just tile. As a licensed general contractor we handle the plumbing relocation, the pan build, the electrical for lighting and exhaust, and the finish carpentry with one crew, so there is no subcontract chain to point fingers when something goes wrong two years later. One crew, one point of contact.
