Solomon Moss installs kitchen and bathroom tile backsplashes across San Diego, from subway and mosaic to large-format slab. A backsplash is a small surface with many ways to go wrong: grout lines against a wall that is not plumb, mosaic seams that telegraph, an outlet cut that misses the cover plate. We set it as part of full kitchen and bath work, licensed and insured, with a fixed price after a free on-site evaluation.
One crew, one point of contact, from the first layout line to the last bead of grout. That's how a backsplash ends up looking like it belongs in the room instead of stuck on after the fact.
The classic behind-the-range and full-height counter-to-cabinet kitchen backsplash. We handle the tricky parts homeowners underestimate: outlet and switch cuts that align to the cover plate, a clean termination at the cabinet edge, and a layout that keeps full tiles where the eye lands instead of a thin sliver in the corner.
Vanity backsplashes, mirror surrounds, and accent walls behind a floating vanity. Bathroom backsplashes sit in a wetter, more humid environment than a kitchen wall, so substrate and sealing choices matter more here than most homeowners expect.
Ceramic and porcelain subway tile is the most durable, easiest-to-maintain backsplash for a San Diego kitchen. Running bond, stacked, vertical, or herringbone: the layout you choose changes the cut waste and the setting time, and we walk through those tradeoffs before we quote.
Glass, penny-round, and mosaic sheet tile read bright and modern but punish careless setting. Sheet seams have to be staggered and blended so the grid doesn't reveal where one sheet ends and the next begins. Glass edges chip if they aren't cut properly.
Zellige and Moroccan handmade tile add texture and warmth to a backsplash, but every piece varies in thickness, shade, and surface. That variation is the point, and it takes an experienced setter to account for it in thinset depth and grout spacing. It sets slower than standard porcelain.
Large-format porcelain slabs eliminate grout lines entirely for a seamless, contemporary look popular in Rancho Bernardo and Carmel Valley kitchens. Slab backsplashes need laser leveling, back-buttering, and lippage control to sit flat against the wall.
